Customize Your Twitter Page in 4 Quick Motions // 09.08.09
1. Layout: Determine whether you want to display information and/or imagery on one or both sides of your Twitter feed. I’ve included downloadable templates for both for the standard screen resolution, (available if you have Photoshop CS3 or later) or create your own using the pixels dimensions I’ve provided.
a. Download Left-side – 424x768px
b. Download Full-page – 1024x768px
2. Logo size and placement: Make the logo fill the available space. Good placement is on the left-hand side next to your Twitter feed. For example, my logo is sized at 224x75px. Layout as follows:
a. Place about 65px from the top make it even with the top of Twitter’s white box.
b. About 20px from the left to center on the default browser window.
3. Other information you should display: Include your contact info and a short blurb about yourself or your company. I recommend using the font Lucida-Grande because it is the same font that Twitter displays.
4. Solid background color vs. gradient: I chose a solid background color that is consistent with my website theme because it’s easy to match and I don’t have to worry what my layout looks like in different browser window sizes. Using gradients are a little bit more complex so make sure you choose the full-page design layout. Match the solid background color in the “Change design colors” section (Settings > Design > Change Design Colors) on your Twitter page to one of the colors you use in your gradient. This will help keep design consistent on your page.
Simply upload your new background to your Twitter account and there you have it!! A customized twitter page in 4 easy steps!
